Two shops, five minutes apart
For a town this size, American Fork does very well — two quilt shops within a few minutes of each other, both of which people speak about fondly.
The Sewing Basket occupies a house across from the public library and has done since 2013. It’s the more old-fashioned of the two in the best sense: rooms rather than aisles, a lovely fabric selection, and staff who reviewers say are particularly kind to children.
The Quilter’s Crossing on Main Street took the opposite route into town, building a following on Etsy for years before opening a storefront in 2022. It’s beautifully presented, and the classes are what people rave about — the instructors get named in reviews, which doesn’t happen often.
Planning around the hours
The Sewing Basket runs until half past five most days but stays open until seven on Thursdays. The Quilter’s Crossing runs until six on weekdays and four on Saturdays. Both close Sundays. Thursday afternoon is the most forgiving time to do both.
Nearby
Nuttall’s in Pleasant Grove is minutes away if a machine needs servicing, and Orem and Provo are a short drive south — five more shops between them. The Utah County page has everything.
