Fabric stores in Springville, Utah

Corn Wagon Quilt Co. was once named among the top ten quilt shops in America, and does its machine quilting in house — a short and worthwhile detour off I-15.

Quilting in Springville

Springville sits just south of Provo, close enough to fold into any Utah County trip, and Corn Wagon Quilt Co. is a good reason to make the detour.

The shop was named one of the top ten quilt shops in America by Patchwork and Quilting magazine, which is the kind of recognition earned by being consistently good rather than briefly fashionable. It has someone in house who does the machine quilting, so a finished top can be handed over and discussed in person instead of shipped away.

Making a day of it

Springville is known as Utah’s Art City and the Springville Museum of Art is a few minutes from the shop — a genuinely good regional collection, and free. That makes this an easy stop to pair with something other than shopping.

Provo is ten minutes north, with Harmony carrying apparel fabric and indie patterns, and Dave’s Bernina for machines. Payson is fifteen minutes south. See Utah County.

The local guild

Often the quickest way to meet other quilters — and to hear about retreats and workshops that never get advertised.
