Apricot Stitches

Apricot Stitches sits on West Main in Vernal and is a small shop that knows what it is. Reviewers describe the selection as cute rather than vast — which is fair, and not really a criticism in a town this far from anywhere. What’s there is well chosen: Moda and Riley Blake fabrics, precuts, notions, books, and minky and flannel.

The reason to know about it, though, is the longarm quilting. Finishing a quilt in the Uinta Basin otherwise means shipping it over the mountains and waiting, so having someone locally who will quilt a top for you is worth a great deal — and it’s the kind of service that doesn’t show up in a plain directory listing.

Check the hours before you go. Apricot Stitches opens Tuesday to Friday, ten until five, and is closed Monday as well as the whole weekend. That’s a narrower window than most shops, so a Saturday trip will be a wasted one.
