About Quilt Etc.

Quilt Etc. has been on Main Street in Sandy for more than thirty years, and that longevity says something. Shops come and go; this one has kept its regulars for decades. The store describes itself as carrying Utah’s largest selection of quilting fabric, and while that’s their claim rather than something anyone has measured, the sheer scale of the place is what people mention first when they walk in.

The detail that comes up again and again is the flannel. Shoppers describe it as the best selection they’ve found anywhere, which makes this a lovely stop if you’re piecing baby quilts, rag quilts, or anything meant to be wrapped around someone through a Utah winter. Alongside the fabric you’ll find kits, notions, books, and patterns.

What people seem to treasure most, though, is the help. Reviews come back consistently to how knowledgeable and genuinely welcoming the staff are — the kind of counter where you can unfold a half-finished top, explain what’s gone sideways, and leave with a plan and a bit more confidence than you came in with. If you’re newer to quilting and looking for somewhere that won’t make you feel like you’re in the way, this is a wonderful place to start — and there are three more shops within a few minutes of here in Sandy if you want to make an afternoon of it.

Quilt Etc. also does custom machine quilting in house, so a finished top can be handed straight across the counter rather than boxed up and shipped off. Classes run at every level, and they’re popular — worth a call ahead to ask what’s coming up and whether there’s a seat.

Details last checked August 2026 . Small shops move and change their hours, so it's always worth a call first.
