Mountain MERMade

Mountain MERMade isn’t quite a fabric store with a retreat attached — it’s closer to the other way around. The shop fills a beautifully restored 1905 home on Main Street in Heber City, and in November 2025 the owners opened an overnight retreat in the same building for anyone who wants to disappear into a project for a few days without the laundry calling.

The name is a small piece of the philosophy: Mental Emotional Release meeting handmade. That tells you a lot about the spirit of the place. It’s a curated boutique rather than a warehouse — top-tier fabric, tools, patterns and kits, chosen with real care — so if you need forty bolts of the same background, one of the bigger Salt Lake County shops will serve you better. But if you’re hoping to find something you haven’t already seen everywhere else, this is a treat worth the drive.

The retreat has two generous sewing rooms with desks that raise and lower, so you can sit or stand as the day goes on — a kindness your shoulders will notice by day two. Groups tend to book the whole thing together, and what they talk about afterward isn’t the fabric so much as the hosting: the sense that someone thought carefully about every small comfort before they arrived.

Heber Valley is the other reason to come. The shop sits between Park City and the Uintas, so a stop here folds beautifully into a weekend you were probably taking anyway.
